Wedding Videography

Why is Video as important as Photo?

If you think about it, we are all visual beings. We have a wide imagination. For the same reason, when we look at a photograph, it suddenly comes to life in our mind. We get virtually transported to that location, where we can actually feel the place, in our mind. We want to visit exotic places just for this reason; we want to feel it in real life.

If just a photograph can do this, can you visualize what a great video can do for an exotic location? It is not for nothing that the tourism boards of all governments are spending loads and loads of money to showcase their tourist destinations in the best manner possible.

Okay, let us try and make it simple. Would you rather watch the photograph of your 3 year old daughter singing, or would you rather be watching a video of your 3 year old daughter singing your favourite song after 10 years have passed?

Now, that should put an end to any or all of the arguments.

We are not here to take away any credit from the photograph. They are good and fine in their own way. In earlier days, we did not have quality video cameras available in general. Further, they did not perform well in low light and lighting accessories were mandatory to capture a good video.

A photograph is worth a 1000 words, is the old English adage; which we will extrapolate and say a video is worth a thousand photographs, quite literally.

From the wedding perspective, there is a sea of difference from your mothers wedding video and the wedding video of your daughter, which will happen this year or the next. Whereas the older video was a drab drag stretching for 2 hours, todays wedding film, as they are called now, are a slick 20 or 30 minutes long with endearing music in sync with the proceedings, capturing all the important scenes and not leaving out anything, while at the same time making for an interesting watch.

The reason why video is good is that it provides you feedback from various quarters; it gives you movement, it gives you sound, it gives you bright visuals while providing an idea of the ambience that was, when the video was captured.

Further, with the advent of Youtube, Instagram, Facebook and other social messaging platforms, it is the video that gains more traction as compared to photographs or static images.

In addition to that, with the latest mobile phones armed with features surpassing even the high end professional cameras, of course, they have their limitations, videos are a breeze. And, the output that we get is rather stunning, within their framework.

Now, more and more still cameras are also equipped with the capability of HD video with frames comparable to the professional cameras. With the latest professional cameras, it is even possible to extract a HD frame from the video and use it as a photograph. So, there.

With the general public, as also the professionals that handle photo and video professionally, are equipped with gadgets that are capable of producing exceptional videos, even in low light conditions, it is no wonder that most of us are leaning towards the video way, when it comes to camera captures.
